End of Humidification Season Clean Up

In order to get the longest life from your Oasis® humidifier, we recommend that you clean up your humidifier at the end of each humidification season (the humidification season is over when the relative humidity consistently rises above 40%).

humidifier emptyThis requires removing the cap, washing out the Humigel® crystals and loosely replacing the cap to allow for air to get in. By following this procedure, your humidifier will look the same as the day you purchased it.

If you put your humidifier on the shelf at the end of the season without cleaning it first, all of the water will evaporate over the next month and the humidifier will shrink to a very small size. This is important because Oasis® humidifiers are designed to release moisture at a fixed rate as long as they contain water.

At the beginning of the next humidification season, purchase a Humigel™ replacement kit to recharge your humidifier.

Once dried out, your humidifier will recover by using warm water to loosen up the crystals and the fabric, but the process of cleaning the device at the end of the season is less time consuming. Besides being easier and less time consuming, end of season cleanup reduces the risk of damage to the unit. When the gel dries out, the revert to the original crystals (which have sharp edges). These crystals can cut into the very thin membrane inside the humidifier causing leaks.
